The Role

As a Field Operations Engineer, you will be part of PB’s on-site delivery team responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of automation hardware systems across the Americas.
 You will work closely with project managers, control engineers, and customer operation teams to bring automation systems online safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on work, solving mechanical and electrical challenges, and seeing robotic systems come to life on the warehouse floor.

Responsibilities

• Participate in hardware installation of AMRs, conveyors, sensors, charging stations, and control panels.
• Conduct mechanical assembly, wiring, and alignment per technical drawings and safety standards.
• Perform power-up, calibration, and communication checks for devices before go-live.
• Support hardware acceptance tests (FAT/SAT) and record system performance and stability.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, or network faults during setup and operation.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and assist in hardware upgrades when needed.
• Document installation progress, test reports, and issue logs clearly.
• Communicate with project and customer teams to align timelines and safety procedures.
• Provide basic operation and maintenance training to customer technicians.
• Travel frequently to customer sites across North and South America (more than 50% travel required).

Requirements

• Strong hands-on skills in mechanical assembly, wiring, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to coordinate on-site implementation with client operations and contractor teams.
• Familiar with power tools, cabling, and field measurement instruments.
• Good communication skills in English and Chinese (Mandarin); Spanish is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
• Fast learner with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
• Willing to travel more than 50% (typical Monday–Friday schedule).

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering, or 3–5 years of relevant field experience.
• Experience in warehouse automation, robotics, or 3PL logistics operations.
• Basic understanding of electrical circuits, PLC I/O, and industrial sensors.
• Prior on-site leadership experience managing installation technicians or contractors.
• Mandarin proficiency for communication with overseas engineering teams.
